First Semester & Arriving (FAQ)
Categories
Where can I get help in organizing my studies?
Which modules should I choose for the first semester?
In the first semester, you should enroll to six technical compulsory modules as specified in your Study and Examination Schedule (Last page of your Program-specific Study and Examination Regulations).
Furthermore, you should enroll to the Non-technical project seminar, which is the first part of your mandatory project.
How do I register for my (hybrid) courses?
Course registration should be done before the semester starts using the LSF. Frequently, courses also offer an associated e-learning module where you can access the course material. Depending on the course, you may freely register for the module, you are added by the lecture after registering in LSF or you get a password at the start of the lecture.

What is the LSF and how do I use it?
The LSF ("Lehre, Studium, Forschung" - "Teaching, Studies, Research") is the central portal for organizing your studies. There you can find and register for the currently available courses, create your personal time table and register for the exams.
There is usually a tutorial on how to use the LSF in the introductory week before the first semester. There are also short tutorial videos available from the Faculty of Computer Science.
Which lectures can I take when I've not arrived in Magdeburg yet?
Most of the lectures in the first semester can be followed online. For this, you have to register for the courses using the LSF. The exams require you to be present from February, as well as an exam registration in November.
In the lectures Power Electronics, Electronic Circuits, Power Systems Analysis and Digital Information Processing, livestreams of the lecture are available. For Systems and Control and Electromagnetic Field Theory, the lecture material is available online.
For the Non-technical project Seminar, online participation is not possible. However, to mitigate the impact of late arrival, the in-presence lectures start in November.
Where do I find the livestreams?
The access data for course livestreams is usually provided through the e-learning or after registration in the LSF. If you did not receive access for the courses that provide livestreams in the first week, please contact the respective lecturer.
